In Loving Memory of Art Sardaro

Art

I have trod the upward
and the downward slope;

I have endured and done
in days before;

I have longed for all
and bid farewell to hope;

And I have lived and loved,
and closed the door

~Robert Louis Stevenson

It is with great enduring sadness that I address the passing of our drummer and manager, Art Sardaro, a man who was truly the spiritual core of the Nostalgics. He touched so many hearts with his undefeatable sprit and love so freely given, never asking or expecting anything in return. His concerns were always for others, his family, his friends, even those he barely knew.

In the physical realm, he was blind, a product of the diabetes he fought for so many years, but he was blessed with true vision of the spirit, that which eludes so many of us who call ourselves normal. Art could see to the core of a person, focusing on their good qualities, ignoring the bad, always a compassionate and caring friend.

His passion for music was exceeded only by his love and devotion to his friends and family, especially his wife Marion, who has always been, and continues to be, an angel of light. I like to think in his passing, he finally got to see her beautiful face. I'm sure it took his breath away...

We love you Art, and we'll miss you more than words can express; some things are just beyond the scope of human language. In saying that, I'm sure you know that not a day will go by when you're not in our hearts.

Go in peace, bud... you've got a lot of great players waiting at the next stop, and I'm sure God can always use a drummer.

~Hardy, for the Nostalgics, past and present.
